Chinese New Year of the Rooster Celebrations

On Friday 3rd February, after the children had enjoyed a delicious Chinese lunch cooked by our school chefs, performers of Chinese martial arts, ballet and music from the Confucius Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, London Southbank University treated the school to a breathtaking roadshow. I managed to tame two enormous lions and some very brave teachers formed a human bridge over which the incredibly athletic martial arts experts flew.  Thank you to the school chefs and to the Confucius Institute for providing us with such exciting celebrations for Chinese New Year.

As well as the show and the Chinese feast, the children have been busy learning about Chinese traditions and crafts. Year 1 loved making dumplings, Year 2 made some very fine roosters out of egg boxes, Year 3 created lucky dragons, Year 4 made Chinese Lanterns and Year 5 created non-explosive firecrackers. What an active bunch!
