On Thursday 3rd December David Lammy MP visited Highgate Primary where he led a whole school assembly as part of the school’s programme ‘Be the Best you can Be’. The MP for Tottenham talked about his life journey, from his childhood in Broadwater Farm, to becoming the first black Briton to gain a place at Harvard University.
After the assembly, David visited classes where children shared their ambitions and dreams and talked about the qualities that are required to be the best you can be, drawing the conclusion that success only comes with determination and resilience.
Highgate Primary started the ‘Be the Best you can Be’ programme last year. The programme was created by Olympic Gold medalist, Dr David Hemery, to enable young people to discover their unique potential and inspire, engage and empower them to pursue and fulfill their dreams.
