The Outside Stage – Ignite Imaginations

“Play is the highest form of research” Albert Einstein

We are very excited to announce that the outside stage in the lower playground is ready! Thank you to all the children, parents, staff, trusts, foundations and all our supporters who have helped to raise the £65,000 construction costs.

We are looking forward to the official grand opening on Tuesday 18th July at 4pm.

Top Brass

To help our final fundraising drive, we would like to invite you to join supporters of our Outside Stage and become part of the story forever, by naming a brass plaque for yourself, your child, grandchild, family or friend. Your donation will enable us to ensure our stage is well equipped and looked after for many years to come. The brass plaques will be beautifully mounted on the playground wall going down towards the amphitheatre.

Opening of the Outdoor Stage

Our Top Brass mural will be unveiled at the grand opening of our Outdoor Stage on Tuesday 18th July at 4pm at the beginning of our Open Evening.

Why an Outside Stage?

Our Ouside Stage will give the children and our community an inspiring platform to perform and a space to ignite imagination. The stage will be integrated into the existing playground in the style of an amphitheatre and will be designed on various different levels for visibility and play. The Outside Stage will be surrounded by trees, which will form a natural enclosure and play a healthy role in developing a green environment.

Highgate Primary School and Blanche Nevile Primary School for Deaf Children place a very high importance on the Performing Arts in our enrichment curriculum; to build confidence, create opportunities, boost inclusion and nurture a love of learning. The schools are involved together in:

  • Class Assemblies twice a year from Year 1 to Year 6
  • A Nativity Play for Nursery and Reception
  • A Christmas Musical for Year 1 to Year 6
  • The Year 6 show at the end of the Summer Term
  • Numerous musical concerts throughout the year
  • Kaos Signing and Singing Choir

The Outside Stage will:

  • Give the children an inspiring platform to develop confidence by performing in assemblies, musicals, plays and concerts.
  • Give the children an inclusive, imaginative, green space to improve the quality of outdoor play on a daily basis.
  • Give the wider community an opportunity to use the outside stage by inviting them to multi-generational Summer concerts and offering the stage to local theatre and music groups.
  • Create a sustainable, environmentally friendly project, to be loved by the school and the community for many generations to come.

Thank you to those who are making our Outside Stage possible:

  • Beltway Homes for providing the materials
  • Cape Construction for project managing the project at no cost
  • The Tottenham Grammar Foundation
  • The Winship Foundation
  • The Garfield Weston Foundation
  • The Mackintosh Foundation
  • All the children, parents, families and staff who’ve supported numerous events and initiatives.
